Welcome to this site on mental depression and mental disorders.

Much has been said about mental illness and its treatments. Therefore, this site will not further encumber you with more information, or with what you already know about the disorder.
This site purports to give you new perspectives of this mental disease.

Major depression, which comes in various forms, such as anxiety attacks, compulsive-obsessive disorder, panic attacks, and bipolar disorder, among others, is a complex illness of the mind, affecting millions of people around the world.

Depression, however, may not be what it seems: it is neither a mental disorder that can be overcome by willpower, nor a debilitating disease against which you are completely powerless.

The objective of this site is to help you rethink your depression with the right mindset. After all, it is your illness, and only YOU, and nobody else, hold the key to your recovery. Yes, only YOU can do it!

Given its complex nature, the following may or may not provide a panacea for the disorder:

ˇ   Can a change of mental attitudes change the outcome of the disorder?

ˇ   Can medications control, if not eradicate, the symptoms?

ˇ   Can herbal supplements and vitamins reverse some of its characteristic conditions and symptoms?

ˇ   Can a healthy diet influence the metabolism and neurotransmission of brain chemicals responsible for the disease?

ˇ   Can behavior changes improve damaged relationships due to the disorder?

ˇ   Can a meaningful and purposeful lifestyle prevent recurrence of depressive episodes?

ˇ   Can the Oriental approach, such as acupuncture, provide a possible cure without medications?

A cure may not be available from any outside agent other than from within YOU. A doctor may not be able to cure your symptoms. A therapist may not be able to talk you out of a depressive episode. An acupuncturist planting numerous needles on you may not be able to pierce and look into the deep recesses of your mind. Medications, supplements, and healthful foods may help your body, but not necessarily your mind. Mental disorder is all in your mind! It is all about the mind - YOUR MIND! Only YOU have all the answers! Only YOU can cure your own disorder. It is your disease, and only YOU can control and combat it.

Find out from this site how "rethinking" your depression can help you help your mind to control and manage it!

Mental Depression Basics

Mental illness includes anxiety attacks, bipolar disorder, panic attacks, and other disorders, due to abnormal neurotransmission of brain chemicals and other factors.

Rethink Mental Attitudes

Mental disorder is often a result of distorted mental attitudes, contributing to procrastination, expecting miralce cures, and perpetuating behavioral problems.

Rethink Depression Medications

Antidepressant medications may help regulating neurotransmission of brain chemicals, such as serotonin. However, many antidepressant drugs have adverse side effects that may offset their benefits.

Rethink Herbal Supplements

Herbal supplements, such as St. John's Wort, SAM-e, 5-HTP, and kava kava, may be potent natural antidepressants. However, quality control and drug interactions are some of the concerns.

Rethink Your Diet

A healthy diet rich in antioxidant vitamins and omega 3 may prevent nutrient deficiency and food allergies, which may affect mental disorder negatively.

Rethink Your Lifestyle

Lifestyle changes may benefit mental health by stabilizing brain chemicals for optimum neurotransmission, thereby instrumental in solving sleep problems and inducing restful sleep.

Rethink Your Behaviors

Identify emotional problems for better anger control. Such behavioral problems, including addictive behaviors and spending problems, are major triggers of bipolar disorder.

Rethink the Oriental Approach

Like Hippocrates, the Oriental approach to mental disease is different from that of conventional Western medicine. It deals with seven emotions of the mind, and uses acupuncture to unblock mental energy.

Rethink Your Thinking

Rethink your thinking that only medications can change chemical imbalance resulting in abonormal neurotransmission. Zen meditation and Buddhist philosophy can change your deep limbic system to change your thinking.
